18-30 Group Gathering
28 October 2019, 19:00 - 21:00
You’re warmly invited to join members of the 18-30 Group to learn more about bipolar and to spend some social time together. We offer a friendly and safe environment with opportunities for peer support. Your friends, family and carers are very welcome if they’re 18-30 years old.
Topic: Getting involved in Edinburgh’s arts programme
When: 7:00pm on Monday, 28 October
Where: Private Meeting Room, Starbucks, 120 Princes Street
Please speak to the counter staff on arrival and ask them to direct you to the upstairs meeting room.
Please note this gathering will be a little different. A number of self-help groups across Edinburgh are making a short-film promoting the benefits of peer support. During the first 20 minutes a film maker from Media Education will be recording a typical group discussion. The footage will be used in the film’s background while Michelle and Laurie are being interviewed.
The facilitators are very aware of the sensitivities of being filmed in these kinds of situations. The film maker will shoot it in such a way that provides anonymity. Members of the group may appear as out of focus shoulders, the back of their head may be visible or their hands, but without showing faces (eg. the blonde-haired woman seen below). No sound will be recorded. You’re also welcome to view the edited footage before it’s signed off.
Please note: You do not have to take part in the filming if you don’t want to, participation is entirely optional.
Those of us who don’t want to be in the film will meet in the main cafe area at 7pm for a free hot drink and a chat. Facilitators will be wearing navy blue jackets displaying the group’s logo. The gathering will then commence at 7:30pm upstairs. Everything will be back to normal at our November gathering.

We look forward to seeing you!
(ps. like many buildings in central Edinburgh you’ll need to climb some stairs to access the venue. If this causes problems for anyone then please contact us before the gathering)
