Listening Books is a UK charity which provides an audiobook library service for anyone who finds that having an illness, disability, learning disability or mental health condition can impact their ability to read. They currently have a free membership available for people living in across Lothian and the Edinburgh area. (Memberships usually cost £20-£45 per year)
Audiobooks are a great way to continue accessing reading when depression or anxiety make it difficult to concentrate and there are currently 7,000 fiction and non fiction titles available from the Listening Books library. Members can borrow audiobooks by various means ie direct through the letterbox on MP3 CD with no postage costs; access via an app available for mobile phones or tablets or streamed online via a PC or laptop
